Is Borghinvilla a villa?

Borghinvilla is a villa, however we only cater to weddings, for that reason we have set up our property as the perfect wedding venue.  We do not offer overnight accommodations.

 

What does Borghinvilla mean?

The name was taken from the flower Bougainvillea(the beautiful flower that surrounds the property), and our proprietor’s last name: Borgh

 

How many weddings per day do you host at Borghinvilla?

ONE!  We host only one wedding per day, so the venue is only for you and your invited guests for the entire day.

 

What is the capacity of Borghinvilla?

We are happy to accommodate wedding groups of up to 200 people.  Our gazebo area can accommodate 200 people.

 

How far in advance should I reserve Borghinvilla?

Once you have chosen your desired wedding date, email us to confirm that the date is available.  We recommend booking your date as soon as you are ready, and we ONLY hold dates once we have received deposits.  Dates can go fast, especially over holidays and weekends so book early to avoid disappointment. 

 

Are Permits Included?

Your events permits are included.  Any additional vendors must have their own permits for whatever service they are providing(food safety, music etc)

 

Payment terms Borghinvilla?

Venue/Day of Coordination- Full payment of $5900USD

Décor/Catering/DJ-Deposit of 10% upon booking with final balance due 60 days before the wedding.

Cake- 50% deposit with final balance due 90 days before the wedding

 

When are final numbers due?

30 days before the wedding

 

Payment options Borghinvilla?

We accept Cash, direct deposits, wire transfers, Paypal(some vendors also accept credit cards for their services.  Fees apply for services paid by this means)

 

Are payments refundable?

Sorry but the VENUE payment is non-refundable.  However, We are happy to adjust your wedding date, provided we have 90 days notice prior to your wedding and have no other event on your new desired date(within 12 months).

 

Does Borghinvilla provide the additional services?

Borghinvilla provides VENUE and other services.  Some of our services are provided by our top vendors. We have put together customizable wedding packages to ensure a stress-free experience, however each vendor will invoice you separately.

 

Where is Borghinvilla located?

On the border of St.Ann and Trelawny off the Queen’s HWY.  We are centrally located to the hotels in Montego Bay, Falmouth, Runaway Bay, Ocho Rios and only one hour from Kingston on the new Hwy.

 

What are Borghinvilla’s office hours?

We work Monday-Saturdays from 9am-5pm, however this is often remotely.  We are open for site tours Monday-Saturdays from 11 am to 4 pm BY APPOINTMENT ONLY.  Please email us to arrange a site tour  info@borghinvilla.com.  We CANNOT accommodate site tours on wedding days.   If you are booking Wedding Planning/Coordination with us, then we are happy to accommodate you outside of our regular office hours.

 

Can Borghinvilla accommodate physical disabilities?

We are not necessarily equipped with special facilities, but we are happy to assist with accommodating any physical disabilities.  Feel free to have someone do a site tour to check out anything we can do to better accommodate.

 

What are the hours we can get the venue?

We are flexible on both set up, start and end times.  Weddings can go to 2 am Fridays and Saturdays(extra charge applies after 12), and 12 midnight on all other nights.

 

Is there security?

Yes, we always have extra security for weddings (this is included in the venue price)

 

Is there a dedicated wedding planner on site? Can they be reached by email?

Wedding Planning comes at an additional cost $2900USD+, Wedding day coordination is included in our Ceremony/Reception package.  We highly recommend hiring our Wedding Planner to plan your wedding.  If you do not wish to hire a Wedding Planner, then you may go through our order form and plan it yourself with the assistance of our coordinator in your 3 included meetings.  


Are you willing to work with the couple’s Wedding Coordinator? 

Absolutely.  Our team is happy to work with the couples professional Wedding Planner/Coordinator.
 

What private indoor and outdoor areas of the resort are available for a wedding?

Ceremony: We have 6 main areas for the ceremony(cliffside gazebo, cliffside deck, tree area on the beach, grassy area or any of the garden areas)

Cocktail Reception: We have 3 main areas for the cocktail reception(the cliffside deck, the pool deck, the beach)

Reception: We have 3 main areas for a reception(grassy area in front of the fig tree(150 max), beach area(200 max), cliff area(80 people max).

Are indoor spaces air-conditioned?

We have 2 air conditioned bridal suites with washrooms, and a living room/dining room(with a fan); all other areas are outdoors. 

 

Do you have an online photo gallery or can you email me pictures of other destination weddings that have taken place at your property?  We have hundreds of photos on our website(www.borghinvilla.com)/Instagram(@borghinvilla_jamaica) pages.


What do you offer in terms of wedding decor?  We have several décor catalogues.  If you have different ideas, then once you have booked the venue, you may fill out the “need pricing request” with photos of anything else you would like our décor team to quote.


What time of the day do most destination weddings occur?  We suggest at least a few hours before the sunset, however you can start anytime you want (google sunset times to find out the exact time on each date).


Can you email a price list to me? Do you expect those prices to change by the date of my wedding?   Once you have paid your venue fee and/or put down a deposit for the décor/catering etc then those rates won’t change(even if rates go up) for 365 days.  If you have not put down a deposit, then rates may change at any time.


Who performs the ceremony at the destination weddings at Borghinvilla? What if we want a ceremony that honors a particular religion; can someone of that faith be provided? What if we want non-religious?

Christian minister is included in the packages however we can accommodate Jewish, Catholic, Hindu and are able to accommodate non-religious ceremonies. We can do both Symbolic or legal weddings.
 

Will someone be available to steam the bride's wedding dress?  We don’t currently provide this service, but we have a steamer available and included in our full ceremony/reception package. 


What do you do if we schedule an outdoor ceremony and reception and it rains?   We include a tent in our garden area with our $5900 USD venue fee.
 

Is live music available? Can we supply our own music on CD?

You can supply your own USB key, or you can give us a list of specific songs or genres of music you want to play at your wedding.

 

Can you email me suggested menus for the reception? 

Yes, we can send you our menu, however our chef is happy to accommodate any customization of this menu.
 

 

Do you provide photography/videography services?

What is the cost and what do we get for that amount?  We do not, however, we will provide a list of photographers and videographers that we have worked with in your google docs (once you book the venue).
 

Is there a charge for bringing/hiring our own extra vendors? (Many resorts charge hundreds per outside vendor)

Once you book the full ceremony/reception package then no other fees are required.  You can bring the following extra vendors if you want(Photographer, Videographer, Hair/Make up Stylist), but please make sure they bring their own permits, power supply and equipment.   All vendors MUST be pre-approved for your protection. 

 

Gratuity to Borghinvilla Staff?

This is optional.  You are welcome to tip staff directly if you feel they have given you exceptional service.


Is there someone who can handle the details for the couple and will guide us through the process of legally getting married?

As part of our full ceremony/reception package we are able to guide and send you the appropriate requirements to apply for your marriage certificate.  As part of our service, we will also send you 2 copies of your marriage certificate once they arrive(approx 6-8 weeks from your wedding day).  Jamaica doesn’t require any blood tests or translation(if your documents are in English).

Can you arrange a special tour or activity for the guests? 

We would suggest hiring a Wedding Planner/Travel Agent to help you arrange excursions for your wedding week.  If we are hired for this service, then we are happy to help.

Is there a parking on site? Is it complimentary? Are taxis easily accessible from the venue?

We have complimentary parking on site for up to 10 cars.  If you are having more than 10 cars please let us know ahead of time so we can arrange for an extra parking lot nearby.

Taxis are not easily accessible and should be pre-booked to avoid long wait times.

 

Are their any rules or restrictions?

Our only main restrictions are that all laws are followed, our staff is treated with respect, nothing is damaged, and the environment is protected.  Couples can choose to do full ceremony/reception packages or book venue and bring their own team.  All vendors must sign a contract and adhere to our safety and venue protocols as well as put a $500 USD demages/cleaning deposit down.   We are otherwise flexible to make sure your wedding day is everything you want it to be.  Everything must be set up and removed on the wedding day.  

 

Do you offer food tastings?

We do!  Complimentary once you have booked with our caterer or $350USD(non-refundable, if you decide not to go ahead, and goes into your balance if you decide to book)

 

Do you have a vegetarian option? 

Yes, our menu has listed several options including vegan options.  Our chef is happy to offer other suggestions or price out anything you wish.

 

Can you accommodate food allergies or intolerance?

Yes, we can accommodate food allergies or any other special request. Please let us know 30 days before your wedding of any guest allergies.

Do you have different prices for Kids?

Yes,  we have a kids menu.  If children will eat the same as the adults then their meals as well as the bar will be 50% off(children 2-12) and will be a smaller portion.

 

Protecting nature:

We are constantly planting and maintaining our gardens.  We love our gardens and trees and ask that you do not dispose of any garbage, put any nails/staples into trees or do anything that will damage them. We are also asking that all items that can be re-used be left in the recycling bin, and all other garbage be disposed of properly.

 

What size tent can fit?

Grass area in front of Fig Tree-  Up to 40 x 60 feet

Beach Area 60 x 60 feet

Cliff area 40 x 50 feet

 

How many rooms do I have access to?

We have 1 bridal suite(with AC, washroom, safe), 1 room(with AC, washroom, safe), and 1 washroom(open for guests)
